Get Pregnant Soon - Intimacy

This is a delicate topic. But one that can't be overlooked. Intimacy!

I'm surprised to hear how many women don't time their intimacy around their cycle. There are free fertility calculators online that can give you a window of when your peak ovulation is depending on the first day of your last period, and your cycle.

You can also chart your basal body temperature by keeping a thermometer by your bed. Take your temperature (any old thermometer will do for now) the moment you wake up. That's before you talk, go to the bathroom, stretch or anything.

Write your temperature down and notice when it spikes and the trends. If you have an iPhone or smart phone, there are free apps that will help you chart this. Over time, you'll see when you are most likely ovluating by a spike in your temperature.

Don't have overly targeted intimacy or get too caught up on charting your temperature. Your cycle can change all the time. One time I was a week early for no reason, even though I'm very regular. If you start over-targeting, you may miss your peak ovluation window.

Also remember the egg only lives in your fallopian tube for roughly 12 to 24 hours, so you need to be disciplined about intimacy and making sure there's available sperm ready to fertilize your eggs.

Most couples stick to an every other day routine to ensure they're covering their bases. As sperm can live in your body for several days, many feel sex every day will deplete the sperm count. It really depends on the health of your partner, so no one can say.

Lie on your back. Sex positions are debatable for getting pregnant, but the general consensus is lying on your back afterward for about 30 minutes can help keep the sperm inside.

Check your cervical mucus. Many women suffer from dry or no mucus, and don't realize how crucial it is to conception. You need that mucus to help the sperm ride its way to the waiting egg. The optimum mucus is stretchy like egg whites and this generally indicates your ovulating. Too thick, and it could prohibit sperm. Too little, and there's nothing there.

Don't be overly concerned if you don't notice it, some women don't really have much of it or it never quite makes its way down far enough to see.

As I'm not a doctor, I can't professionally recommend Evening Primrose Oil. However, for many women it can help increase the production of cervical mucus in a relatively short amount of time.

Please be advise you are not to take Evening Primrose Oil for fertility if there's any chance at all you could be pregnant. Evening Primrose Oil is known to cause uterine contractions. As such, only take it during your period or directly afterword.

Skip the manufactured lubrication. Most lubrications on the market will prohibit, or even kill off, sperm. It's best to try to use your own natural body's lubricant when possible. For a boost, doctors tend to recommend just a drop or two of mineral oil. Preeseed is also popular and claims to actually help you conceive.

Enjoy it. For most couples, it's impossible not to stress over intimacy when trying to get pregnant. Try to keep it fun and fresh. You'll grow closer as a couple and conceiving will seem less like a chore.
