Get Pregnant Soon - Gluten And Why It's So Bad

Some experts now think the majority of unexplained infertility issues could be caused by gluten and what it does to our bodies.

Gluten adds texture to food and is typically found in many processed foods, wheat, rye, and barely. But what's it doing to our bodies that so bad?

The Deal With Gluten

Your body absorbs food with the help of tiny hair-like projections called villi that live in our intestines. These little hairs hang out, move around, and help us absorb nutrients and release into the blood stream.

Gluten sufferers, and those with Celiac disease, can create a toxic reaction when eating gluten. Those toxins make our darling villi lie flat and keep nutrients from being properly absorbed.

Gluten and Miscarriages

Gluten issues have also been linked to miscarriages. It makes sense. If your body isn't able to absorb enough nutrients, then your baby also won't get enough while growing.

According to a study conducted at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, the rate of miscarriage is four times higher in women with Celiac disease.

Gluten and Ovulation

Celiac experts also think gluten can increase the hormone called prolactin in some women. Prolactin increases during pregnancy so we can breastfeed. But concentrated amounts can also turn off brain chemicals linked to egg production and release. (This is actually why some women don't get pregnant while breastfeeding and skipping the birth control.)

But too much prolactin could be turning off your ability to ovulate properly and interfere with your month to month fertility.

Symptoms

If you have gastrointestinal issues, feel lethargic after eating, have "brain fog" or get bloated, ask your gluten about a gluten allergy or Celiac disease.

Delicious Gluten Free Alternatives

Don't be terrified of ever consuming gluten again. But it just adds texture to food, and even if you're not allergic to it, it could be causing a lack of nutrients to be absorbed in your body.

There's just really no reason to eat it, especially when there are delicious alternatives out there. Officially, I want to tell you whole foods like fruits and vegetables are best and if you can skip processed foods all together, please do.

But if you're like me, you still want to indulge in brownies, bread, pasta, and treats once in awhile. Did you know ALL of those goodies can be found gluten free and are delicious?

Try GlutenFree.com to find all kinds of gluten-free alternatives.

I am personally a big fan of the Guten Free Pantry line, which produces wheat free and gluten free cookies, cakes, and brownies. Look under their gluten free Brownie section.

I recommend the Chocolate Truffle Brownie Mix with some pecans or almonds mixed it. Refrigerate it, then serve with some organic Skippy peanut butter on top. It's absolutely divine!
